It appears the Nebraska Cornhuskers may look to a pair of Ohio State Buckeyes to help the program take the next step.

Max Olson of The Athletic reported that transfer portal quarterback Kyle McCord and wide receiver Julian Fleming are expected to visit Nebraska this week.

In the 2023 season, McCord served as the starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes, while Fleming was a four-year member of the receiving corps at Ohio State. Both players entered the transfer portal in December.

McCord had previously spent two seasons as the backup to C.J. Stroud in Columbus. In his season as the starter, he contributed to the Buckeyes' 11-1 record, throwing for 3,170 yards with 24 touchdowns and six interceptions, boasting a 65.8% completion rate.

The highlight of the Ohio State Buckeyes' 2023 season is overshadowed by their sole loss, a defeat to arch-rival Michigan for the third consecutive season. In that game, McCord posted stats of 18-of-30 for 271 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, the second interception occurring on the final drive as the Buckeyes sought to secure a win.

Despite the setback in the rivalry game, McCord demonstrated his capabilities by orchestrating a game-winning drive against Notre Dame and leading the Buckeyes to victory over a formidable Penn State team. His potential addition to the Nebraska Cornhuskers could significantly bolster the team's quarterback performance.

As for Julian Fleming, a five-star recruit and the top-ranked wide receiver in the Class of 2020, he faced stiff competition within a highly competitive position group at Ohio State. Over his four years in Columbus, Fleming made 79 catches for 963 yards and seven touchdowns. However, he never surpassed 550 yards in a single season and found himself behind star receivers like Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka in the recent season.

A change of scenery could be beneficial for both players, and the Cornhuskers, in need of talent, might find them valuable additions. Additionally, a potential matchup against the Buckeyes is on the horizon, with the Cornhuskers scheduled to face Ohio State on October 26 at Ohio Stadium.
